To the Honorable Ms. Louise Slaughter, Over the next couple of months, you may receive a petition from the group "Zero Population Growth". I am writing to you to object to their position, and impress upon you my desire to prevent the goverment's involvement in any "population control" activites. While I echo many of that groups concerns, concerns they claim are related to population, such as pollution, crowded schools, traffic jams, endangered species, urban sprawl, teen pregnancy, higher taxes and infrastructure decay, I DO NOT believe that the majority of these problems are due to excessive population, or even "pressures" from population. I believe the majority of the above problems are either caused or accentuated by insufficient property rights, and insufficient education. ...to secure a wide range of property rights, such as... While you may not agree with me on the details, I would like to simply stress that I do not agree with population controls in any form, "voluntary" or otherwise. And I do not agree with the premises or conclusions of "Zero Population Growth". Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Tim Oertel
